Environmental and social commitments

Beyond being a global issue, looking after the environment is, for LOV Group, an essential responsibility and something they do both for their customers and employees. The group is a leader in all its markets and aims to set an example. Its philosophy is to do as much as possible, and build a concrete and useful environmental policy. Every idea is valued, and the overall policy represents the sum of our collective ideas that together ensure the group is moving towards a greener future and one that respects the planet.

Eco responsible water bottles

In Courchevel and Versailles' hotels, employees are given GOBI water bottles : eco-designed, 100% Made In France, and manufactured with sustainable materials.

The Suspense thriller, produced by Banijay’s drama company Yellowbird in co-production with Sagafilm dramatize the burning issues of climate change, Arctic exploration and international geo-politics. The thriller’s carbon emissions have been calculated and offset.

A premium nature documentary

Lov group - Wild wondeful denmark

Wild Wonderful Denmark is produced by Banijay’s Mastiff for public broadcaster DR1. It aims to put a focus on the danish nature life and the challenges it faces due to climate change. The format is pitched globally to get as many countries in the world to produce the show to make a massive impact.

Lov group - Peter hansen

Peter Hansen is the Banijay Nordic Chief Creative and green ambassador. It felt like a natural thing to step into the role as a spokesman on endorsing sustainability for Peter coming from a region in the world where it's very much on the agenda. The Danish government has, for instance, adopted a climate law to cut emissions by 70% by 2030.

Lov group - Backstrom

The Swedish drama series BÄCKSTRÖM for TV4 & ARD was shot in 2019 and is the first scripted production in Sweden to focus on sustainable production and to find a way of producing in a greener way in film & TV. The film production had an Eco-Supervisor to educate all heads of development before the production. It included no air travel in Sweden, and climate compensation for air travel outside Sweden, no non-recyclable items, less use of plastic and always a vegetarian alternative for meals.

Banijay UK Joined Albert which brings the UK film and TV industries together to tackle environmental impact. The group now supports Albert’s strategic projects,tools and initiatives into the UK. We are involved in the industry’s path to 0% carbon by 2050 (UK govt legislation)

In 2020 all Banijay companies has banned all plastic bottles in offices around the world and introducing new ways of avoiding plastic bottles in productions as well. At brainpool’s, in Germany, Drinking water comes from a water dispenser & recycling bottles are given to employees. Savings : 12,000 plastic bottles during production !

Brainpool goes green!

Lov group - Brainpool

Brainpool established a job wheel model and annual free bicycle inspection for employees, and increased the public transport subsidy from 15 euros to 50 euros for employees. In January 2020, Brainpool completely switched to green electricity from renewable energies, and converted to recyclable printer paper with an accreditation from the federal government : “Blauer Engel”.

Airelles Val d'Isère goes for soap recycling

The partnership with Unisoap has begun! In Val d'Isère, used soaps will be collected at the end of the winter season, to be recycled and given to people in need.

In 2019, Banijay committed to giving back to the local communities in which it operates, via its first corporate social responsibility day – Baniday. Each year, teams across our global business will down their professional tools for a day, to provide help and time to charities, local governments and not-for-profit organisations in the cities and towns in which they live and work.

Betclic celebrated 2020 Valentine’s Day with a difference!

To celebrate the day of love, Betclic volunteers visited Noah's Ark Malta in Mellieha (Malta) to share their affection with abandoned and rescued dogs. A donation was also made to show our support for animal welfare and to thank Noah’s Ark Dog Sanctuary for their help with this visit.

Lov solidarity - Race

Betclic Group was proud to have been part of Malta's first ever Wings for Life World Run in aid of spinal cord research. We contributed by sponsoring the participation of 100 people for this historic charity event. Globally, Wings for Life registered the participation of 120,000 runners and wheelchair participants who covered 1,103,276 km in 323 locations across 72 countries, raising over €3.5 million towards spinal cord research.

A clean paradise!

Lov solidarity - Cleaning

On Tuesday the 30th of April 2019, a group of us headed down to a hard to reach section of the Paradise Bay which is in a really bad state. Every time there is a storm, the area is left covered with plastic and other waste which would have been sitting on the sea bed.
